Vision

“Creating a place where diverse individuals can autonomously and creatively learn through the fusion of architecture and art”

YOSHUKEN is a building located within the grounds of Rinshoin Temple. This building was one of the earliest constructed after the devastation of World War II and has undergone various transformations over the years. The word “Yō” (葉) means “to fulfill” or “era” and also evokes the image of the vitality and transformation of plants. The name YOSHUKEN was chosen with the hope that it would become a place where people of different generations could gather, sparking new possibilities.

The YOSHUKEN Project is rooted in the historical significance of Rinshoin and its connection to Toyo University. Rinshoin Temple flourished as the family temple of Kasuga no Tsubone, and it was also where philosopher Inoue Enryo founded the Philosophy Academy, which later became Toyo University. Through this shared history, Rinshoin and Toyo University are collaborating to revitalize this historically rich building, breathing new life into it and creating a place where people can come together to learn and collaborate.
